Study Reveals the One Thing Long-Distance Couples Do Better Than Everyone Else

A new study revealed long-distance couples are better at focusing on positive relationship memories where one person felt particularly loved or safe with their partner, and sharing those moments with each other.

The study examined 533 people who had been dating for at least six months and were currently in long-distance relationships where they were at least 100 miles apart. Couples who were more adept at savoring those moments together were more emotionally positive about the relationship in general.

This may not be as easy as it sounds, since people tend to have very short-lived reactions to happy events before they go back to their usual level of happiness. Long-distance couples, however, are able to make those moments last since, well, they kind of have to.

The point is (and it's a really good point), even if you're in the same city — especially if you're in the same city — take the time to reflect and really dwell on the happy moments in your relationship so you actually experience them. You'll be happier.
