Everyone wants a little romance in their lives. Most of the time however, romance doesn’t fall from the sky or come prepackaged.
That means we’ve got to work at it.
So here are 9 sensuous and romantic ideas for creating a romantic atmosphere whether you’re on a date, or just staying at home enjoying each others company.
Romance Tip #1:
Candles are the corner stone of any romantic situation. But you don’t want just any candle. Paraffin candles (like you find in most stores) are made from the sludge in the bottom of a barrel of oil, and when burned put pretty close to the same pollutants into your air as would a diesel truck parked in the room with the engine running.
So get some soy or beeswax candles and have the romance without the health problems.
Tip: Scented candles add to the atmosphere and help stimulate the senses.
Romance Tip #2:
Next on the list is roses. Remember that white roses say “friendship” while red roses say “love” – don’t get them confused.
A nice clear or crystal vase with some water will add to the atmosphere (put a drop of lemon juice in the water to keep the roses fresh.
Romance Tip #3:
Notice how we’re appealing to the senses?
Third on the romantic agenda is soft music. Some might call it elevator music, but a bit of jazz, piano or even guitar music will do just fine. Keep it soft and low. You don’t want anything that can become a distraction, or get those toes tapping.

Gentlemen pay attention: a slow, soothing foot massage is just what the lady ordered – do both feet and she’ll melt in your arms.
And ladies, the guys would love to have their back or neck rubbed as most of their daily tension accumulates there.

Lighting is next on the list and is very important.
Harsh glaring lights detract from the mood – soft,warm and dimmed lights add to it. Forget the fluorescent bulbs no matter how energy conscious you are, and use low wattage, warm incandescent bulbs. These days there are many kinds to choose from including those that simulate candles.
Romance Tip #6:
Next on our quest to stimulate the senses is something for the palette. Some nice wine and chocolates will fill the bill just fine. Strawberries or cherries are also nice, but only if they’re sweet and juicy.
Most of the strawberries these days taste like cardboard so be sure to try before you buy.
The wine should be sweet and fruity and should go well with the chocolates that you choose. Spend the extra buck or two for some good quality chocolate and leave the milk chocolate for halloween.
Romance Tip #7:
If planning an indoor event like a dinner or movie night, forget the paper products. Break out the nice dishes and silverware and use cloth napkins.
Cloth napkins add an elegant touch to any activity and show that you’re willing to go that extra romantic mile.
Romance Tip #8:
Depending on the event you have planned, this next activity may fit right in, or may be in appropriate – you decide.
There’s nothing more soothing than a warm bubble bath for two. “I’ll wash your back if you wash mine.” Use your imagination.
Bubble baths also make interesting foreplay.
Romance Tip #9:
Our final romance tip can be used with any of the other tips, or can stand alone.
To get those sensuous juices flowing, take your finger tips, and using both hands, very lightly run your finger tips along your partners arms, back, and face.
Don’t rush it!
Move slowly and sensuously, coming back to territory you’ve already covered. Finger tips can say “I love you” without uttering a word if they come from the heart.
