Some nights, a date is in order. Maybe you have a dope smokey eye that you don't want to go to waste or your flirting game feels extra strong. Problem is, locking down a same-night date isn't exactly easy. But what if you want to skip straight to the dating part of mobile dating, with limited back-and-forth beforehand? A forthcoming new feature from the dating app Clover might have a solution. Called Dating On-Demand, the feature promises to get you a date in two taps—for that night. Step one: Pick when and where from a list of their suggestions. Step two: Review the date that Clover picked for you. Step three: Well, date.
If that sounds like a blind date nightmare to you, don't worry. There are obviously intermittent steps behind the scenes to make sure you don't wind up with somebody totally random. Clover uses an algorithm to find you a compatible setup. This PAIR methodology determines your match based on personality (drawn from things like interests, political views, and social type), attributes (attractiveness, location, height, ethnicity, age), intention (fling or serious relationship), and reputation (based on in-app activity), then gives you a match percentage.
Like any dating app, there's room for some bad matchmaking—a 94 percent match on paper doesn't always translate to instant chemistry in person. Still, it might be fun to try out if you're feeling adventurous. If anything, you might have a slightly better chance of hitting it off with your On-Demand Date (thanks to that compatibility algorithm) than approaching the hot stranger in a bar.
On-Demand Dating will be available in the upcoming version 3.0 of the Clover app, which is scheduled to launch before the end of the year.
